Day 2:  Lima - Cuzco
Fly from Lima to Cusco, assistance and transfer to your selected hotel. Rest of day at leisure to acclimatize.

Day 3:  Cuzco
Morning at leisure, then later this afternoon explore the magical capital of the Incas on a tour including a visit to

Plaza Regocijo, Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral and the Santo Domingo Convent Monastery.

The Santo Domingo monastery was built over the Koricancha temple, one of the most important temples devoted to worship of the sun. According to the chronicles, it was covered in gold sheet and filled with golden representations of nature. Then walk around the old town with its very narrow streets.

After seeing the most interesting sites of the city, you will drive to the countryside outside Cusco to visit some of the remarkable inca ruins in the area: the cult centre of Sacsayhuaman, the temple and amphitheatre of Kenko and the Red Fortress of Puca Pucara.  Finally the tour will take you to visit Tambomachy, It consists of a series of aqueducts, canals and waterfalls that run through the terraced rocks. The function of the site is uncertain: it may have served as a military outpost guarding the approaches to Cusco, as a spa resort for the Incan political elite, or both. Overnight in Cuzco.

(Included meals: Breakfast)
Day 4:  Cuzco - Sacred Valley of the Incas
Take a trip to Urubamba, the Sacred Valley of the Incas. You will begin your tour

visiting Awanakancha, where South American camelidae are bred. Learn about the llamas;, alpacas; and vicunas; superb fibres, as well as the ancient weaving techniques which are still in use. Proceed to Pisac where you will have the opportunity to bargain with vendors at its local handicrafts market. Enjoy lunch at a pleasant hostelry in the countryside and continue to the Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo. The site was built just as the Spaniards arrived and evidence of how it was is still visible.
Included meals : Breakfast, Lunch)
Day 5:  Sacred Valley of the Incas - Machu Picchu
Transfer to Ollanta station to board the train to Machu Picchu. Upon arrival to Aguas Calientes you will take a 25-minute motorcoach ride to "The Lost City of the Incas", which was discovered by American explorer Hiram Bingham in 1911. Located on the left bank of the Vilcanota river lies the wonderful old city of Machu Picchu, which in quechua means "Old Mountain". According to research, Machu Picchu would have been one of the vacation residences of Pachacutec, the first Inca emperor between 1438 and 1470.

However, some of its finest buildings and the evident ceremonial purpose of the main access road to the village, prove that it was used as a religious shrine.

Machu Picchu is considered both a masterpiece of architecture and engineering because of its unique architectural and landscaping features. Prominent constructions among its buildings are the Main Square, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Circular Towers, the Sacred Sun Dial and the Burial Grounds, among others of singular architecture and importance.Your guide will narrate and explain all about this splendid citadel, which is a truly amazing experience. After the guided tour you will have free time to stroll around the archaeological site. Lunch at café Inkaterra. Overnight in Aguas Calientes.

(Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch)
Day 6:  Machu Picchu - Cuzco
We strongly recommend that you wake up early to see the sunrise over Machu Picchu. (Optional): For hiking enthusiasts, we suggest a walk up to the peak of Wayna Picchu. This is a once-in-a-lifetime sight. Afternoon rail to Ollantaytambo station, then van or car transportation to Cusco. Upon arrival, transfer to the selected hotel.

Motor-boat ride on Lake Titicaca (with a surface area of 8,300 km2) to visit the unique floating islands of the Uros. For hundreds of years the livelihood of this "Water

Tribe" is based on the benefits of a unique plant: the totora reed (Scyrpus totora). They use it to build their homes, boats and even the floating islands they live on, periodically adding new layers of reeds. They also use it in their highly developed weaving. Continue to the natural island of Taquile on Lake Titicaca inhabited by quechua-speaking natives who have developed, through generations, both an efficient and original social system and a fine hand weaving technique.

Some comments by past clients

Hi Laura,

We`re back safe and sound and really loved our trip. We were so impressed with how well organized and coordinated the tour was. Our guides were wonderful, really nice, helpful and knowledgeable. Everything really was great. all of our hotels were nice. The one in Cusco, the Eco Inn, was exceptional and we loved being there. All in all, our accomodations, hotel, flights, buses, trains, were really well organized and nice. It was such a hassle-free trip.

We always knew when and where and how we could reach a guide. We always knew what the next day would look like. Our guides took great care to make sure we got from point to point without a glitch. It was really impressive! Peru was so beautiful and we really loved it.

Thank you again for all of your assistance, Laura. It was a really wonderful trip and I`d be happy to recommend Latin Discover to any other client.

Saludos de Nueva York! I was probably driving you up the walls with my countless e-mails -- here is one more! I just want to thank you for your patience and efficiency. The trip to Peru was very well organized and I can say only the best about everything and everybody. You and the rest of the crew did a wonderful job. Millon de gracias! LR
Fermin L (from USA)

Fermin y Marita

Mauricio, the trip was great. We had a fantastic time. Your suppliers were always on time, which was important to us. My husband really enjoyed that we did not have to worry about anything. He is now recommending your agency to many of his friends. I like that the tours offered many possibilities to hike, walk, move around... and trek in the mountains.

Peru is lovely. I will try to go again. Taquile island, the Sacred Valley and Machu Pichu were amazing. My husband even went up Wayna Pichu and felt like Indiana Jones. We certainly had a blast. The Palomino Island tour to see birds, penguins and swim with the seals was worthwhile. Scott jumped into the ocean. He even "challenged" a male sea lion. (I decided not to swim since it was quite deep and open cold ocean water)

My father was very impressed and comforted when you called him back indicating that we were safe. We had tried to call him but all the telecommunications were shut down... Thanks for doing this. I made friends with other people from Chicago and Edmonton, Canada that also booked the tour through you! I am planning to have you plan my future trips to Latin America. Thanks so much, Cristina PS Food was delicious. We enjoyed every breakfast and lunch!

Sandra, Just wanted to tell you we had a wonderful time in Peru. We were treated like royalty. We heartily recommend the tour group for anyone who is interested in going and touring Peru. The only hitch was, we saw something we wanted, but didn't get as we thought it'd be around later. Is there anyway to contact our first guide out of Puno and ask her to get it and we'd pay her/the company back? Randy L.
Kevin B (from USA)

Sandra. all the arrangements were efficient and when there was a hitch it was sorted out. The only thing we were not aware of is that Machu Picchu does not have an ATM and I think travellers need to be made aware of this - encountered a few people with the same problem when they wanted to purchase something at the market.

When our flight was cancelled in Cusco due to weather, your on-the-ground man Willie was especially helpful, efficient and friendly. The friendliness was extended by each staff member we dealt with. We have just done a ''round the world'' trip and will stay put for a while but when we travel again we will definitely bear your agency in mind. Thank you Kevin B.

Maria Elena Kestell (from USA)
The Latin Discover travel representative, Dan Oliveira did an outstanding job in creating our travel to and from and around Peru. We would highly recommend him and his company for future travelers. The accomodations and the local affiliates exceeded our expectations. Thank you again Dan. Great memories.
